The topography gets tricky here

this is the most Northern part of Group 5, section 1. We wanted to get this area done by the end of the day, because it is supposed to rain thursday.

The process of installation Day 2

We waited until 10 am to get all of the materials needed to assemble the gates... we were still ahead of schedule, and the weather couldn't have been better. The mud and dog excrement were the biggest obsticles. My team works together very well.

100 gates, team of 8

This is the run I was assigned to on the upper west side near 86th street.
There are 100 gates in this area, and this picture was taken on Monday, before the Gates were up.

hats and gates: daily photos

hats and gates: daily photos On Monday, February 7, 2005, weather permitting, I will be part of a team of approximately 700 non-skilled workers (in teams of 7) will elevate The Gates assemblies -- 2 vertical and one horizontal pole, the upper and lower aluminum corners and base assembly and the fabric panel in a cocoon, attached to the upper horizontal pole. The fabric panels will not initially be seen because they will be restrained in the cocoons which will remain closed until Saturday, February 12, when all the cocoons will be opened, in one day (maybe in one morning), weather permitting, as with all our projects.

Day Before Leaving for NY from LA

Hello everyone,

I have been waiting for three years for this....
But not as long as Christo and Jeanne-Claude have been waiting. The concept of the Gates Project in Central Park, NYC is finally going to be realized after 26 years.
I am lucky enough to be a part of history, and work with one of the most influential artists of this century.

I will be posting daily photographs documenting this experience.

Tomorrow I will be in New York, and Friday I will be training.

It's sunny and 75 here in LA... Just about to Leave this LA LA Land. I am all geared up to work on the Gates Project and very excited.
